DUA LIPA SUES SAMSUNG FOR $15 MILLION OVER ALLEGED UNAUTHORIZED USE OF HER IMAGE ON TV PACKAGING
Pop star Dua Lipa has sued Samsung for 15 million dollars over the alleged unauthorized use of her image on television packaging in the United States.
Court documents filed at the US District Court for the Central District of California alleged that Samsung used a photograph of the singer on boxes for several television models without her consent. Her legal team claimed the company attempted to capitalize on her popularity to market and sell its products.
The lawsuit reportedly included allegations of copyright infringement, trademark infringement and misappropriation of likeness. According to the filing, the image was taken during Dua Lipa’s performance at the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival, and the singer was said to own the copyright to the photograph.
The suit stated that Dua Lipa became aware of the packaging in June 2025 after fans shared images of the boxes on social media, where some users reportedly referred to it as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.” Her lawyers also alleged that Samsung ignored repeated cease-and-desist demands asking the company to stop using the image.
Samsung had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of filing the report. Dua Lipa, whose latest album Radical Optimism was released in 2024, maintains commercial partnerships with several global brands including Puma and Versace.
