HOW UNIMED FEMALE SCHOLAR SECURED 3 MAJOR AWARDS, REVEALS SECRETS BEHIND 4.86 CGPA

‎Discipline, faith, consistency and early preparation were the winning formula for Akinduro Omolara Iyanuoluwa, who emerged as the Best Graduating Student of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) after graduating with an exceptional CGPA of 4.86 out of 5.0.

Beyond finishing as the university’s overall best graduating student, Iyanuoluwa distinguished herself as one of the institution’s most celebrated female scholars after winning three prestigious awards at the convocation ceremony.

‎The awards include the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for the Best Graduating Student, the Madam Abhaigbe Okonofua Prize for the Best Graduating Female Student, and the Dean’s Prize for the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty.

‎The Medical Rehabilitation graduate attributed her success to intentional living, balancing academics with spirituality and refusing to underestimate any course throughout her undergraduate journey.

‎Speaking during an interview with Jobeth Media, Iyanuoluwa explained that she resumed at the university five years ago with a clear focus on academic excellence and personal growth.

‎“If anyone had told me I would become the Best Graduating Student, I would have said it was impossible. I know God made it possible, but I also did my best to study first, attend programmes and church activities while balancing church, work and academics,” she said.

According to her, staying organised and prioritising her studies helped her maintain balance without compromising her spiritual commitments.

‎“God brought me to school to study, so I had to put studying first while balancing work and church without allowing one to affect the other,” she added.

‎EARLY PREPARATION WAS KEY

‎Iyanuoluwa disclosed that her academic preparation started immediately after gaining admission, noting that many students lose valuable time during their early years in school.

‎‎“I didn’t joke with my time thinking I had many years ahead. From my 100 Level, I maximised my time and kept reflecting on what I wanted to become at the end of every semester,” she explained.

‎She also advised students never to look down on any course regardless of the unit attached to it.

‎“Always consider every course important,” she advised.

‎Her remarkable achievement has continued to inspire many young women striving for academic excellence while balancing leadership, faith and personal development.

‎At the university’s 7th Convocation Ceremony, 598 undergraduate students graduated, with 33 earning First Class Honours and 267 graduating with Second Class Upper Honours.

The institution also produced 173 postgraduate graduates, including 76 Master’s degree holders, 32 Master of Public Health graduates, 52 Postgraduate Diploma recipients and 13 Ph.D. scholars from the Faculty of Science, School of Public Health and Institute of Advanced Clinical Sciences Education.
