MAN JAILED FOR TWO YEARS AFTER STEALING HARD DRIVES WITH UNRELEASED BEYONCÉ MUSIC IN ATLANTA CAR BREAK-IN
A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison for breaking into a vehicle and stealing hard drives containing unreleased music linked to Beyoncé during a tour stop in Atlanta, Georgia.
Kelvin Evans pleaded guilty to charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass after prosecutors said he smashed the rear window of a rented Jeep Wagoneer on 8 July 2025 and stole luggage belonging to members of Beyoncé’s tour team. He was also given an additional three years of probation and ordered to stay away from the victims and the parking area where the theft occurred.
Authorities said Evans appeared to act randomly when he broke into the vehicle, which was being used by choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue while Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour was in Atlanta. The stolen items reportedly included laptops, headphones, luxury belongings and hard drives said to contain unreleased Beyoncé material, along with sensitive personal information.
The case included surveillance footage shown to jurors, which allegedly captured a red Hyundai linked to Evans arriving near the parking garage where the break-in occurred, as well as at an apartment block where stolen suitcases were later seen being handled.
Investigators said tracking technology on the stolen laptops helped place the items at the second location shown in the footage. The hard drives and other stolen materials have not been recovered.
Evans, described in court records as a repeat offender, had initially pleaded not guilty in January and rejected an earlier plea deal in March before agreeing to a deal ahead of trial. His lawyer told the court he hoped his client would “make money legitimately and be part of society,” according to reports cited by US media partner CBS News.
The break-in happened just before Beyoncé launched a four-night run at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium as part of her Cowboy Carter tour.
