WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY 2025: FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU HONORS EDUCATORS, URGES ACTION ON TEACHER SHORTAGE

In celebration of World Teachers’ Day 2025, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has praised the dedication of teachers nationwide and called for urgent action to address the shortage of educators.

Speaking in a commemorative message, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of investing in teachers’ growth, empowering the profession, and inspiring a new generation to join the classroom.

“Teachers are true heroes— shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations,” she said.

With this year’s theme— “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage” the First Lady highlighted the urgent need to tackle what she described as a growing educational crisis that affects developing nations.

Senator Tinubu, a former educator herself, noted that shortage of teachers is a challenge that must be confronted with urgency, stating it’s essential to uplift the teaching profession by valuing educators, supporting their development, and making teaching attractive.

She further saluted teachers across the country for their resilience and sacrifice.
