UN SECRETARY-GENERAL URGES COLLECTIVE ACTION TO PREVENT ESCALATION BETWEEN ISRAEL AND IRAN

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has issued a stark warning to the international community regarding the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

Guterres described the current moment as one of critical importance, telling Security Council members, “There are moments when the choices before us are not just consequential— they are defining. Moments when the direction taken will shape not only the fate of nations, but potentially our collective future.”
The Secretary-General called for responsible collective action to “pull the world back from the brink,” emphasizing the need for diplomatic engagement and peaceful solutions.
He reiterated the need for countries to work together to prevent further deterioration, noting that the risk of wider conflict poses serious humanitarian concerns.
