President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy to Nigerian-born boxing champion Anthony Joshua following a tragic accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway that claimed two lives and left the sports icon injured.

In a heartfelt message released on his social media page, the President described the incident as a painful tragedy that has cast a dark shadow over the season.

“I extend my deep sympathies to you following the tragic accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, which claimed two precious lives and caused you injuries,” Tinubu said.

President Tinubu acknowledged the emotional toll of the incident on Joshua and his family, offering words of comfort and national solidarity.

He praised Joshua’s character, noting that his courage, discipline, and unwavering love for Nigeria have made him a symbol of national pride both at home and abroad.

The President concluded by offering prayers for Joshua’s recovery and for the peaceful repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the accident.
