“OUR LOOK DETERMINES OUR PROGRESS”— PASTOR KUMUYI URGES BELIEVERS TO STAY FOCUSED

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi, has urged Christians to have renewed focus on Christ, warning that distractions, spiritual entanglements, and unrest among believers can derail progress in the Christian journey.

Pastor Kumuyi delivered the charge while ministering at the Deeper Life Global Retreat, themed “The Great Redemption Power,” where he spoke on the message titled “Looking Unto Jesus.”

Addressing thousands of worshippers, the revered holiness preacher emphasized that spiritual endurance, victory, and consistency are sustained only when believers deliberately fix their attention on Christ.

According to him, “our look determines our progress on the journey,” a principle he illustrated from the biblical account of Apostle Peter, who walked on water as long as his eyes remained on Jesus but began to sink when he shifted his focus.

Quoting Hebrews 12:2, Pastor Kumuyi reminded believers that Jesus remains the author, example, captain, and finisher of faith, cautioning against seeking answers, strength, or direction elsewhere. He noted that any faith that truly originates from Christ is empowered to overcome trials, temptations, and seasons of uncertainty.

The cleric further called for peace and orderliness among believers, especially those he described as pilgrims on a heavenly race. He warned against associating with boisterous, confrontational, and bullying individuals whose actions could create distractions and slow spiritual progress.

As the year winds to a close, Pastor Kumuyi challenged Christians to examine where their focus lies, urging them to remain steadfast, peaceful, and undistracted as they press toward spiritual maturity and eternal reward.
