It was more than a parade of colors. More than a contest of speed. More than cheers rising from the school field.

The atmosphere at Orimolade Community Comprehensive High School was vibrant and energetic as students, parents, and community leaders gathered for the school’s annual Inter-House Sports Competition.
Beyond the colorful displays and athletic contests, the event became a platform for renewed commitment to holistic education and improved student welfare.
Delivering her keynote address, the Principal, Mrs. Akindutire Christianah Oluwatoyin, reaffirmed her dedication to entrenching the three core domains of education cognitive, affective, and psychomotor— as the foundation for sustainable academic excellence and character development.

COMMITMENT TO HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Mrs. Akindutire emphasized that education must go beyond classroom instruction to develop the brain, mind, and body of every learner. According to her, the Inter-House Sports Competition is not merely a showcase of athletic prowess but a celebration of unity, sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy competition.
She noted that since assuming office, her administration has remained focused on strengthening teaching and learning standards through collaboration with staff, parents, and community stakeholders.

“Our goal is to ensure that every child thrives intellectually, emotionally, and physically,” she stated, stressing that balanced development prepares students for future leadership and responsible citizenship.

CALL FOR STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT AND IMPROVED STUDENT WELFARE
While commending the efforts of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) and alumni for their contributions to infrastructural growth, the principal appealed to community members, well-meaning individuals, and relevant stakeholders to intensify financial and moral support.

She highlighted the need for improved facilities and a more conducive learning environment to further uplift the school’s standards and enhance student welfare.

The appeal drew positive responses from dignitaries, community chiefs, religious leaders, and education stakeholders present at the event, many of whom made pledges toward the school’s development.
A CELEBRATION OF UNITY AND SPORTSMANSHIP
The sports session, which commenced at 11 a.m., opened with a colorful march-past featuring students dressed in yellow, white, green, and blue sportswear representing their respective houses.

Events including relay races, sack races, egg races, and inter-school competitions thrilled spectators and showcased the students’ agility and teamwork.

Beyond athletics, the event featured captivating cultural displays and a decoration ceremony, during which dignitaries and community figures made generous pledges, which further enriched the occasion, reinforcing the spirit of unity and communal pride.
FINAL RESULTS: GREEN HOUSE EMERGES OVERALL WINNER
At the end of the keenly contested events, scores were announced as follows:
Yellow House – 204 points (4th position)
Blue House– 223 points (3rd position)
White House– 224 points (2nd position)

The event, which concluded later in the day, was graced by dignitaries from the Ministry of Education, clergy members, traditional rulers, vice principals, teachers, house masters, alumni, and community leaders.

Their presence underscored the shared commitment to fostering academic excellence and youth development through sports and education.
The 2026 Orimolade Inter-House Sports Competition not only celebrated athletic talent but also reinforced a broader vision— one that integrates cognitive excellence, emotional intelligence, and physical development to build well-rounded future leaders.
