FG DECLARES OCTOBER 1 PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO CELEBRATE NIGERIA’S 65TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark the nation’s 65th Independence Day.

Citizens are urged to unite under the theme- “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, and urged citizens to uphold unity, patriotism, and the resilient spirit that has sustained the country since independence in 1960.

He also encouraged Nigerians to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which he said focuses on national rebirth, economic transformation, and shared prosperity.

Commemorative activities have already begun with prayers nationwide.
