AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY APPOINTS FIRST FEMALE VICE-CHANCELLOR

Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has appointed Professor Ebunoluwa Oduwole as the institution’s first female Vice-Chancellor, marking a historic milestone in its leadership.

According to a press release issued by the university’s Governing Council, Professor Oduwole brings over 39 years of experience in the Nigerian university system and is expected to succeed Professor Timothy Adebayo, whose five-year tenure ends in a few months.

The university stated that Professor Oduwole career began at Olabisi Onabanjo University in 1985, and as held several key academic and administrative roles.

These include Head of the Department of Philosophy, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Deputy Vice-Chancellor from 2016 to 2018, and Vice-Chancellor for Administration between 2018 and 2020.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ibadan, a Master of Science in Bioethics from a European university consortium, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Ibadan.

In addition to her positions at OOU, she has served on committees at the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Lagos State University, and Osun State University. She is also a member of the Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University and the Church of Nigeria Theological Accreditation and Regulatory Board.

The university described her appointment as a new chapter in its leadership, guided by academic excellence and extensive administrative experience.
