HOPE AND HEALING: DROMI, MAP INTERNATIONAL LEAD COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH IN ONDO

HOPE AND HEALING: DROMI, MAP INTERNATIONAL LEAD COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH IN ONDO

In a powerful display of compassion and community spirit, Dr. Rhoda Makinde, a medical doctor and wife of Honorable Abiola Makinde, Representative of Ondo East/West Federal Constituency has called on residents of Ondo to prioritize unity and support collective well-being.
Dr. Makinde made the call during a free medical outreach held at the Civic Center in Sabo, Ondo, yesterday, where hundreds gathered to benefit from health education, consultations, and life-saving medication.
The event, organized under the platform of DROMI (Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiative), brought together medical professionals, volunteers, and partner organizations, all united by a shared mission to make healthcare accessible to all.
“This outreach is more than just stethoscopes and prescriptions,” Dr. Makinde said in her opening remarks.
“It is a powerful statement—that no one should be left behind simply because they cannot afford care.”
Dr. Makinde lauded the team of medical experts and volunteers whose dedication made the outreach possible. Among those recognized were Dr. Adewale, Dr. Adegbite, and the broader medical team, as well as volunteers from HAMDROMI.
“You are the silent heroes,” she said. “The sacrifices you make today will echo in the lives of those we touch. This is what true impact looks like.”
The outreach was supported by MAP International (Medication for All People), a humanitarian organization that donated the majority of the medications distributed during the event.
“MAP International’s contribution goes beyond pills and syrups,” Dr. Makinde noted. “Their support is measured in the sighs of relief, the renewed strength, and the hope they’ve restored in families here today.”
She praised the organization for its global commitment to health equity: “From crisis zones to undeserved communities, MAP International continues to write its legacy in the lives it heals and the hope it inspires.”
Addressing the diverse crowd of mothers, fathers, youths, and elderly attendees, Dr. Makinde emphasized the importance of compassion-driven care. “Your health matters. Your life matters,” she declared. “Health should not be a privilege for the few, but a right for all.”
In a rousing conclusion, she delivered a heartfelt call to action:
“Let today remind us of the strength we hold when we come together.
A healthy community is a thriving one. Let us build, love, and lead together. Because when you heal a life, you heal a family—and when you heal a family, you heal a nation.”
The event left a lasting impression on attendees, reinforcing the idea that collaboration, compassion, and commitment to community can ignite transformative change.
