EASTER SUNDAY: KUMUYI URGES CHRISTIANS TO SEEK LASTING PEACE IN CHRIST
As Christian faithfuls around the world mark the Easter celebration, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has called on believers to pursue lasting peace rooted in faith rather than relying on what he described as temporary peace offered by the world.
He made the remarks during the church’s ongoing Global Easter Retreat, transmitted from the Deeper Life International Conference Center.
The Easter Retreat is an annual event organised by the church and attracts a global audience, with participants joining both physically and virtually.

Speaking on the topic “Prevailing Peace Through the Permanent Indwelling of the Holy Spirit”, Pastor Kumuyi said global events have shown that peace based on human agreements is often short-lived, citing situations where conflicts resume after ceasefires.
He told worshippers that true peace comes from Christ, often referred to as the Prince of Peace, and cannot be replaced by worldly assurances.
Quoting from the Bible, in Gospel of John 14:27, he said: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you… Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
The holliness preacher also urged believers to avoid conflict and disorder, particularly within families, saying that persistent disagreements are inconsistent with Christian living.

He warned against anxiety and worry, describing them as sources of agitation, and encouraged Christians to trust in God and remain thankful.
The cleric added that individuals could experience what he described as “personal, prevailing and perpetual peace” through a sustained relationship with Christ.
Earlier, he described the ongoing retreat as significant, noting that this year’s edition marks the 50th anniversary of the programme, which began in 1976.
The 2026 retreat, themed “The Glory of Christ’s Resurrection”, began on 2 April and is scheduled to continue until 6 April.

He said the milestone represents five decades of the annual gathering, which has drawn widespread participation from across the world.
