NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS TONTO DIKEH SAYS FAITH ENDED YEARS OF ANGER, ADDICTION & INNER TURMOIL

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has revealed that a recent spiritual commitment has transformed her life, ending years of what she described as “demonic anger,” addiction and inner turmoil.

Speaking during a public testimony on Sunday at Streams of Joy International, the 40-year-old said she is experiencing peace for the first time in her life, following what she described as divine intervention.

“I have lived with a demonic anger… an anger that fueled me, that destroyed my life,” Dikeh said. “I never knew peace. I’m 40 years old and I can tell you I did not know what peace was—until now.”

According to the actress, the anger once drove her to destructive extremes. Using a vivid metaphor, she said she would “burn the bridge, and even burn the car coming with water to save it,” emphasising how uncontrollable the rage had become.

Dikeh said the turning point came after she committed herself fully to God, a decision she credits with restoring calm and emotional stability. “I’ve got a lot of peace surrounding me… I’m just living in it,” she said.

She also disclosed a 27-year struggle with smoking, which began when she was 13. Describing herself as a “chimney,” Dikeh said she prayed specifically for help to quit, acknowledging she could not overcome the addiction alone.

“I told God, ‘If you want me to walk this walk with you, I cannot do this alone,’” she said, adding that she felt unable to preach faith while still battling addiction.

According to her testimony, the urge to smoke disappeared following prayer. “Every yoke was broken,” she said. “My body does not need it. My body is repelling it.”

The actress further revealed that she had battled alcohol addiction, often drinking heavily in private until she passed out. She said the habit kept her isolated and ashamed.

“I wasn’t drinking small amounts,” she said. “I’m talking about big vodka bottles.” She added that the addiction has now ended. “But today—broken! God restored a lot.”

Dikeh also claimed spiritual healing from long-term oppression, saying that after attending a prayer conference, she felt released from forces she believed had held her captive for years.

The Nollywood star reaffirmed her commitment to her faith, describing it as a personal covenant. “It is me and you,” she said, addressing God, as she professed how a renewed commitment to God has brought her peace for the first time at age 40.
