MISS UNIVERSE WALKOUT: MISS MEXICO BERATED— CONTESTANTS RISE IN SOLIDARITY

A major controversy has hit the Miss Universe pageant after several contestants walked out of a pre-event ceremony in Thailand when Miss Mexico was publicly scolded by an organizer.

The confrontation took place earlier this week in Bangkok, when Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil accused Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, of failing to post enough promotional content for the pageant.

Witnesses say Bosch tried to defend herself, but Nawat interrupted her repeatedly, then called for security and threatened to disqualify anyone who supported her.

In a video that quickly went viral, Nawat can be heard raising his voice at Bosch, telling her to “stop talking.” Bosch eventually walked out— followed by several contestants who stood in solidarity.

Among them was Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark, the reigning Miss Universe, who said,

“This is about women’s rights. To trash another girl is beyond disrespectful— that’s why I’m walking out.”

Miss Mexico later told reporters, “I’m not afraid to make my voice heard. I’m not a doll to be styled and silenced. I came here to speak for women.”

The incident sparked outrage across social media, with fans praising Bosch’s courage and demanding accountability. The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) condemned Nawat’s actions as “malicious and humiliating,” saying he had “forgotten the true meaning of being a genuine host.”

MUO President Raul Rocha announced that Nawat’s participation in the pageant will be “limited or eliminated entirely,” adding that legal action may follow.

Nawat later issued a public apology, saying, “If anyone feels bad, uncomfortable, or affected, I apologise to everyone— especially the contestants present.”

Despite the controversy, Miss Universe events are continuing as planned, with the final competition set for November 21 in Bangkok.

What started as a beauty pageant has turned into a powerful moment of unity and defiance. For many, Fatima Bosch’s stand was about more than a crown— it was about respect, dignity, and women refusing to be silenced.
